Hello Jon,
My name’s Mike Cobley, Scottish SF/fantasy writer, and I’m currently recruiting author contributors for a cyberpunk anthology to be published by Newcon Press – your name was flagged up by a few colleagues, and I checked out yr book Barricade which really has a certain resonance! So here’s my intro pitch:
So, the anthology is provisionally entitled ‘Night, Rain & Neon’ and I hope to encourage some ambition and visionary intensity amongst the writer posse so we can make a kind of Dangerous Visions for new cyberpunk fiction. So yes, ambitious, and even a bit of rash temerity too! Payment will be at Newcon’s regular rate, a penny a word up to fifty quid max, not a mega-earner, BUT a quality volume filled with quality stories by significant names and wrapped in quality jacket art will be a joy forever. Word length I`m looking for is yer classic 3-5K but am open to persuasion for longer or shorter efforts. I’m still assembling the posse (and aiming to widen the inclusivity) with the aim of getting 20+ contributors by mid-April at which point I`ll be able to go Ian Whates at Newcon, get his take on what the schedule for publication is likely to be, after which I`ll then fire the starting pistol and lay down a submission deadline for October.
I have a longer, more glamorous (?) pitch which I`m thinking of incorporating into the anthology intro – so I can send that you to as well if you’re intrigued.
Anway, leave this with you and look forward to seeing what you think.
V best
Mike Cobley
