Launching Steeple

All sorts of things have been occurring over the last couple of weeks to herald the launch of “Steeple”, the second novel in the Kenstibec series, which was published by Gollancz on 18 June. I thought I would take a moment on my lazy Sunday to round thing up here.

TOURING:

First off, there’s been something of a mini blog tour, with articles appearing in SciFi Now, Foyles and the Gollancz blog – covering everything from K’s perceptions of London to his relationship with a small black terrier. Expect to see more articles posted here and elsewhere over the coming weeks.

Second, to celebrate the official publication date, I held another doodle competition on Twitter, offering a choice of character doodles (Fatty, Pistol and Bridget) for those with an interest. Congrats to winners, Steve Walsh, Scott Tucker and Lydia Ondrusek.

COMPETING:

I like these competitions, it’s been fun doodling cartoons again – and seeing as I have more copies to give away, I’m posting a NEW CHANCE TO WIN!

Post a comment here saying which doodle you prefer and why (see image above) and you’ll be entered into a draw for a doodled Trade Paperback “Steeple” – plus a signed Trade Paperback “Barricade”. I’ll close the comp on 1 September and pick two winners.

LAUNCHING:

Finally, it was a great privilege to attend a joint launch for “Steeple” and Al Robertson’s excellent debut, “Crashing Heaven”, at Forbidden Planet, London, on Thursday 25 June. A great crowd turned out (including our mums) and there was a very pleasant booze up afterwards – thanks to Simon, Sophie, Marcus and all Gollancz folk for their support on the night. Also, do check out Crashing Heaven if you can – I’m reading it at the moment and can report it is really accomplished writing.
